Aramco's COVID-19 response: Employees' perspective

What are your thoughts and views on how Aramco has responded to the pandemic?

Santosh Ambike

  • Senior Financial Consultant, Power Systems Planning Department

Aramco considers the health and safety of its employees a top priority. During the pandemic, this is clearly manifested in the initiatives by the Company such as making vaccinations available to all its employees through a special collaboration with John Hopkins Aramco Healthcare and the government of Saudi Arabia. Aramco has shown concern for the wellbeing of employees during this difficult period.

Hunjang Kim

  • Environmental Engineer, Jazan Refinery Engineering Department

Aramco quickly secured the health and safety of our workforce and communities by making protection of employees and their families the highest priority.

All employees and their families also cooperated with the company’s instructions and guidelines such as wearing mask, washing hands, and practicing social distancing measures.

For continuation of work, we used video conferencing or virtual training. Everyone stepped up so we can overcome the pandemic together. We felt safe at work and at home with our families despite the pandemic.

  • Senior Scientist, Transport Technologies

Few could have predicted the rapid unfolding of events before and during the pandemic. Nevertheless, Aramco responded firmly to the numerous challenges in these tough times. For example, the corporate ecosystems and delivery models adapted quickly to allow remote working for almost all office-based staff within a couple of weeks.

I understand that the company, and my department in particular, also supported national initiatives aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s overall response to COVID-19.

The fact that the majority of Aramco’s expat workforce, Aramco schools and communities are so closely integrated also made it easier for all of us to stand together and look out for each other.

  • Exploration Geologist, Eastern Area Exploration Department

Aramco took the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic very seriously from the beginning. To protect its employees and their dependents, measures were applied quickly across all Aramco facilities and were monitored strictly and regularly.

  • Petroleum Engineer, Strategic Modeling Technology Department

I would rate 10/10 for Aramco’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Together with John Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, Aramco took proactive and effective precautions to protect us from the virus. We strongly felt that employee safety is the company’s highest priority.

Kyoo Wan Kim

  • Project Engineer, UR Engrg & Project Department

Aramco took strict control of the COVID-19 situation. The company made sure to communicate developments of the pandemic, health guidelines and instructions regularly through both email and mobile phone.

In addition, all employees are required to check their body temperature. Through its in-house system, Aramco puts in place questionnaires to help staff monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. There are also nurses who regularly monitor for symptoms.

In my view, Aramco was very responsive and has managed the COVID-19 pandemic well.

Jaewook Ha

  • Corporate Transaction Group, Financial Consulting Division

I was impressed with Aramco’s swift response to the pandemic and its preventive measures to prohibit spread in workplace.

The Saudi government has also managed to control the situation nationwide. Coming back from vacation in South Korea recently, I had to get a COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done. The drive-through test center was easily accessible, and the whole process was quick and smooth.

The test result was ready within a day; yet another pleasant surprise.
