Working at Saudi Aramco

What do you do as an Exploration Geologist?

As an Exploration Geologist, I provide geological and geophysical interpretation for prospect evaluation and exploration drilling. Some of my responsibilities include managing advanced sequence and stratigraphic analysis, conducting petrophysics analysis and generating advanced seismic attribute analysis.

What is your team like?

Since Saudi Aramco is a large international company, I work in a very dynamic team consisting of colleagues of different nationalities.

What do you enjoy most about working in Aramco?

What I enjoy most about working in Aramco is that I am given the opportunity to apply any technology and method for our exploration analysis, and our management is often very supportive of the suggestions.

Mr. Edward and his wife

"I want to work for the biggest oil producer in the world.

As an Exploration Geologist, I aspire to make big oil and gas discoveries.

The opportunity for that is possible in Aramco since it has a huge exploration area in a hydrocarbon prolific region. "

Why Saudi Aramco

Why did you join Aramco?

There are two main reasons why I joined Aramco. Firstly, I want to work for the biggest oil producer in the world. As an Exploration Geologist, I aspire to make big oil and gas discoveries. The opportunity for that is possible in Aramco since it has a huge exploration area in a hydrocarbon prolific region.

Secondly, as a Muslim, I want to live in Saudi Arabia so I can perform Umrah and Hajj. Our most memorable experience so far in Saudi is when we performed our first Umrah together as a whole family!

What thoughts and insights can you share with those keen to join Aramco?

One thing that I really enjoy is the experience of working for a big multinational company with colleagues from different parts of the world. If that’s the case for you too then Aramco is the place for you.

Living in Saudi Arabia

Where are you and your family originally from? Where do you live in the Kingdom?

We are originally from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Right now we are living in Saudi Aramco's residential camp in Dhahran.

How have you and your family settled in the Kingdom?

Our family settled in very easily and quickly in the Kingdom without any challenges. It also helped that we already knew some friends in Aramco prior to moving, and they were both welcoming and supportive of our settling here.

How is life in the community?

We find life amazingly comfortable inside the Aramco residential camp. Coincidentally there is also a big Indonesian community within the camp, so it’s a lot like home away from home.

What are the community activities and initiatives you’ve participated in?

Since we like sports and summer weather, we participate in many sport activities, from golf and cycling, to running and football. The various sports facilities in Aramco camp also make it convenient for us to do those activities. Additionally, we are very active in various Indonesian community events.
